Pros and Cons of Rechargeable Batteries

Different from primary or disposable batteries those batteries as the name stated are rechargeable. Although beneficial during this period of load-shedding crisis, rechargeable batteries can also be harmful. Pros and cons of rechargeable batteries. Pros1. Long service – rechargeable batteries can be used many times over a long period which cannot be found on disposable batteries. 2. Environmentally friendly – they are considered to be 25% less impactful on air pollution, 10 percent less in water pollution, and 7 percent less in air acidification. Not only can they be used repeatedly, but they generate less waste over the long term.3. Cost-effective – although more expensive than the primary/ disposal battery, because they last longer, rechargeable batteries are more cost-effective. 4. Convenience – Rechargeable batteries give you peace of mind to relax and to patiently wait for it them to be fully charged. Cons 1. Recycling issue – Although they take longer to get dispose of, due to the chemical elements inside those batteries, it’s concerning and difficult to dispose of secondary/rechargeable batteries. It’s advisable to not dispose of rechargeable batteries before their battery life is not fully used, as this can be more harmful to the environment than a primary battery. 2. Charging time – Although not really a disadvantage, waiting for the battery to be charged before using it can be annoying/irritating to certain users. 3. Sustainability – In a long period, rechargeable batteries can become weak and unpredictable due to their age, which leads to lower performance.
